Planning application for new Ealing BMX track
Ealing BMX Club has been working for some time with Ealing Council and Access Sport (Sports Development Charity) to build a new and better BMX track as we have long outgrown the little pump track at Gurnell.
Access Sport are leading this process and have submitted the planning application for a new track at Longfield Playing Field towards the end of Stockdove Way Perivale and next to the recently developed Perivale ponds - so not too far from where we are now and near the golf and athletics club.
We have received some great comments from club riders and from local residents, and we are now waiting to hear the outcome of the planning application.

Detailed plans for the new track have been submitted and can be viewed on the Ealing Council site.
The proposal for the new site includes a full size BMX race track encircled by an inclusive loop for beginners and those with disabilities, a learn to ride area, equipment storage, a bicycle workshop and a club reception / class room with amenities.
The emphasis for the design and layout of the site is that the BMX track and facilities should sit sympathetically within the surrounding natural environment. To that end the landscape architect commissioned by Access Sport has ensured the focus is on the use of natural materials and improving the biodiversity of native species around the track site.
BMX is an inclusive sport which is suitable for all ages and abilities.
The new track will enable older riders to keep training at Ealing BMX- at the moment we can only offer a place in our sessions to riders under sixteen because of the small size of our track.
BMX builds skills such as balance, confidence and strength which are important to many other areas of physical exercise and good health and it helps build good habits for life.
As well as the importance of teaching physical skills, BMX is also a great way for our riders to develop confidence and be part of a supportive community group.
The BMX sessions are greatly appreciated by our parents and carers as a way to meet other parents and gain support, especially for our Wingz children with special needs.
Ealing BMX run outreach sessions in combination with Access Sport and the new track will be an important part of developing this work.
